Cinderella....

So I heard this song called "Cinderella" by Stephen Curtis Chapman at Stephen Taylor's wedding this weekend. It was pretty cool, so it's been on my mind this weekend.

On Thursday, I went to Dallas to celebrate Stephen Taylor and Katherine Wooten's wedding. I had such a great time with awesome people! Thursday, Stephen and I stayed up way to late just sitting around talking. Friday was rehearsal day with the bachelor party that night, so it was a blast! Stephen was such an awesome sport about everything - including the superman speedo and wifebeater tank we made him wear while dancing around at every red light in the Dallas area that we crossed. What an awesome time!

The wedding was a blast - including the dancing part during the reception that not everyone was looking forward to, but it ended up one of the most fun parts of the night. It was great to see both of them happy - they are two great people. CONGRATS Stephen!

I decided that I wanted to stop by and see an old friend, Jordan Dennis in Antlers, Oklahoma on the way back! What a dynamic, going from Dallas, TX to Antlers, OK! I walked in and asked for two Miller Lite's and a shot and tried to pay with my credit card. 1. They only had Bud Light and Coors Light, 2. They don't have liquor and 3. They don't take cards...needless to say, I wasn't really fitting in from the start - LOL! Although, I had a BLAST with him too. I hadn't seen him in forever, so it was great to catch up!

This week should be interesting - training for our summer staff, All Staff Boys and Girls Training for the state of Oklahoma - in our facility and the start of DAYCAMP!! This will be a busy, but effective week!

Ph.....D??

I've been thinking about it for a long time. I thought I could just settle and apply for my Ph.D. at OSU for Educational Psychology...and while the program is AWESOME and I really think I would fit in with the faculty that I have met, I really just feel it's still time to get out of here and explore a few options. Leave Oklahoma. See how I could expand my experiences though other areas of study.

After traveling to Orlando, it definitely confirmed my thoughts. I really just have to go for it! SO....I told Jennifer that I was thinking about this and we decided to end our relationship. This was totally understandable with me. I mean, I completely understand that she is ready to settle down and be with someone to stick around the area. That is actually totally respectable and a very normal thing - I think in most ways, I'm the weird one, but in more ways than one I am cool with that.

So, my research begins...yet again!

Here are some top programs I would like to look at through the next few months to start narrowing down my decision:

University of Tennessee - Knoxville
University of Texas at Austin
Bowling Green University
Oklahoma State University (still a great program - why not!?)
Vanderbilt University (I LOVE NASHVILLE!)
And I'm sure a few others....everyday I feel like I learn something new about the programs in the country!

I am going to continue studying the GRE and my first goal to take it is by the end of June. I will take it until I feel I am comfortable with my score and can improve for admission!!

DALLAS
This weekend I will be going to Dallas for Stephen Taylor's wedding. I'm pretty pumped to be a groomsman in the wedding and was pretty honored when I was asked a few months ago - so I'm very excited about this weekend!

LAST WEEK OF MAY
The last week of May is going to be a crazy time at work! We have training for the state of Oklahoma Boys and Girls Clubs, staff training for our summer staff and officially START summer daycamp...we will have a fun ride a head!

INSANITY
I have been trying this new workout program - started last week. It's called INSANITY and it has been truly INSANE. I have to stop a lot, of course, but it's been worth it. I feel great! Tired, but great. Overall, I can tell I'm gaining strength and am getting a little more fit than of course just sitting on my butt at night.

Right now, things are going great at work and in my personal life. I should be teaching speech this summer, too! I'll be working Saturday's and will be very busy!

Orlando and Weekend FUN!

Well, this past week, I visited Orlando for the annual Territorial Youth Workers Conference for The Salvation Army. I couldn't believe how awesome it was...I really learned a lot! More than JUST for my job, I feel I grew a lot in the spiritual aspect of my life. I really think that it's time that Christ steps back into my life on a bigger level than the last few years. A huge encouragement for that was hanging out with one of my oldest friends, Stephen Taylor. He was there for his position in Texas and...well, you know some of those people that you hang out with and they just MAKE you want to become a better person by their personality and character? Well, that's him. He is such a great example of a true man of God that it just makes me want to become more dedicated to that type of life. Of course, the material that the conference covered was incredible and challenged me in many aspects of life, but mostly personal. Having Stephen there AND the awesome material made a huge impact.

I traveled and stayed with Jake Law, the Unit Director for the Sapulpa Boys and Girls Club. For the flight, however...

From Tulsa to Houston, NO PROBLEM!

When we got to the flight in Houston, waited and watched as the rich people got onto first class. Nothing big, UNTIL people started getting off the plane. They made the announcement that there was a problem with the plane and to come back in an hour and a half to figure out what was up. Well, they told us at noon that we wouldn't leave until 3:30 - 4 pm. When we got there, there was HORRIBLE customer service. So much that I will probably never fly Continental Airlines again!! We were suppose to arrive around 4 then be at a meeting at 6 pm. Needless to say, we made it in around 10 pm.

On the way back, we left Orlando late because of a storm. I got off the plane and asked for the gate number and they told me the wrong one...it was for a Tulsa flight an hour later. I asked the guy if I could make it to the next flight on time and he shrugged his shoulders...I thought, REALLY? I took the train and ran to the gate across the other side of the airport (DFW, might I add). Didn't make it, then I had to take the later flight, which was cool anyway...it was Jake's flight and I also got to talk to a really cool lady that works in the Grants Department for the City of Tulsa. Very intense conversation about Tulsa and going back to school, because her son is getting ready to start his Ph.D.

After getting back, I went to work on Friday for a half day. After that, Jen and I had an AWESOME date night! We went and played lazer tag with the gift certificate she got me for Valentines Day - it was awesome! THEN we were driving by Promenade Mall and saw there was a small carnival going on, so we stopped and rode a few rides. It was great! Then, went to eat at On the Border, another great place! All-in-all, a great night!

THEN LAST NIGHT...
I traveled to UCO to see the graduation of a few friends and students...Brendle, Sam, Stockton, Brett, Fidel and Bradford, just to name a few LOL. After that, went to eat with Brendle's family...I freakin' love them! After that, I headed to the hotel that we were staying at for Kyle Beggs' bachelor party, it was so much fun! Although it was a crazy night. Schedule of events...

Check into hotel
Go to Chilino's
Leave there and go to McNellies for Jessica and Lyndsay's graduation party
Leave there and go to the Wormy Dog and of course, back at the bachelor party
Head to the hotel for the after, hotel, etc. party

Busy night, but AWESOME time!

TODAY...
Drove back to Tulsa, finished cleaning up the house and got ready for everyone to get here! Marcus is always a great help for randomly cleaning up the house. He just started doing the dishes out of no where...very cool. Garrett also mowed this week...these roommates are awesome at helping out!

Dad got here about 1:30 and we started preparing the dinner for Mother's Day. It was awesome, except, well, MY MOTHER was absent to be with my sisters. While I understand and totally feel for my sisters (both of them are pretty sick and I pray for Baylee everyday - she is suffering A LOT for a kid her age, it kills me!), myself and my dad (mainly him) spent around $300 on food today for these ladies and they were 5 people of the party...kind of puts a dent in that budget! Not cool at all...

We had an awesome day though. Family and of course, Marcus was around. It's great that they have pretty much just acted like he's another member of the family, especially my dad. That's very cool.

As if this isn't a long enough post, I will be posting more stuff this week about my Ph.D. search, YES, I'M BACK ON THE SEARCH! Actually VERY excited!!

Until then...
