Chances are...

Well, I've been through a busy week...or two. It's been a very exciting few weeks at work, good time in the classroom and a GREAT time with the RSU PIKE guys. A rundown...

Last Saturday, Captain Patrick Gesner arrived in Sand Springs. I will start off saying that we have been VERY blessed in Sand Springs to have amazing officers the last few years, the Boatmans. They have done a lot in this community and mended some broken relationships that our programs have experienced in the past. We couldn't have asked for a better transition through this officer change. The Boatman's and Gesner have known each other for some time and they were able to talk in town before the Boatman's left Sand Springs, so that was awesome! We are gearing up for a fundraiser and preparing for a few major spring ideas coming up...which will be a blast. The funniest part is me showing a new person around the city, introducing him to our staff and community, members and random people around town. Just a year and a few months ago, I was the new guy. My how things change. I'm very excited about the work he will do here in Sand Springs. It seems like we will work well together - so I'm very pumped!

It's been awesome to really connect with my class lately. The last few classtimes, we have been able to work together to find common ground on what they are starting to learn.

So, to the title. "Chances" is a song by Five For Fighting that I've found recently off of "The Blind Side"...awesome song! I've just been thinking about the awesome chances going on in life...it's cheesy, yes. I really like the song, so get over it.

Me, busy?

I will just say that the past week has been pretty awesome! Although, VERY busy, pretty awesome! I'll just take you through a crazy week...last Friday, my date! I had a date with someone AWESOME! We had a blast going to dinner, a movie and then both of us winning a few games at Fun House on the Riverwalk! I let her win a few things...ha!

Well, Saturday I went to see my dad at The Caravan - his 65th birthday or something - ha! I give him a hard time a lot, but it's only because he REALLY is young to have a 26 year old son, but then there is that 9 year old...well, anyway...after that I went to hang out with Denise Belk for her big 3-0 at the bowling alley! Headed to Full Moon after that, which I was very surprised at - they had a dueling piano set up, but oddly enough closed at 1 am?? Went to hang with Joe, Bryan, Allison, Wetz, T and a few others for a few hours then headed home. It's been a few weeks since I've drank because of this weight loss thing, which has been awesome! Keeping my cash around, driving all the time to my house and sleeping in my bed, enjoying the laugh and all of the other things...it's just been awesome!

Sunday, I kept my commitment to Life Church by attending "Margin," which is the awesome new series at Life right now! I spent my Sunday on my mission to find furniture, a TV and carpet. It's been crazy! I think I have everything down, but of course - that means remorse is on the way!

Monday, I was able to just work and keep it lazy at home.

Tuesday, I went to teach then I took off of work to get a few things accomplished. More details to come, BUT I am just going to say that I'm looking to get an operation done for myself. I have a condition called gynecomastia, which is a condition causing fatty tissue that surrounds my breast area. For a long time, I really didn't want to admit this, but after a lot of confidence from Jake Wetz, a fraternity brother of mine, I was encouraged to at least admit it and figure out what I need to do about it. So Tuesday, I went to get a few consultations done in Tulsa. A little more expensive than I thought, BUT I believe it's going to be worth whatever financing I can get! I will be working that in the next few weeks/months. It's going to take a lot, but I will be getting this in the next year - FOR SURE. I also took myself to RSU for the first night of RUSH this semester. Good times, really. I'm so proud of these guys and what they have been accomplishing. This semester should be awesome!

Wednesday, I worked then had a few things to do at night.

Tonight, Thursday, I took my first full night off this week. I planned to go to RSU, but left a little late from work, so I stayed home. The Office was pretty funny, but because Bryan Walker and I were watching it together, we both couldn't really believe that they were doing flashbacks on their first episode of the new year!

Tomorrow night, I will head to a dinner at RSU for the guys who signed this semester. I just got word that there were 6, which is awesome!! I will also be helping my boss' load their truck to move to Jonesboro on Sunday.

Saturday, I will be working basketball for a bit then taking the Boatman's out to dinner - pretty excited to have a "last supper" with them!

Sunday will be the Boatman's farewell - sucks! Then I will be traveling to UCO to speak at Greek Leadership Institute and have some hang time with Jessica, so that will be awesome!

Next week should be a little more low key...excitement...ha!If you know anyone who is selling furniture or a big screen TV, let me know! I'm down to save a few bucks!

I think I like writing my daily agenda. Although this isn't what people always like to read about, it's a good time for reflection.

Professional?

Today was pretty busy. Like most days, I knew I had a lot a head of me, but didn't realize how much I was getting myself into...

I started the day going to class for the first time this semester. So, I have 22 students in my class - 3 of which are male. CRAZY! It was an awesome day of class though. We got to go over a lot of cool stuff on the first day, but of course, I just started the first day off any other way I would - with introductions. What amazes me about this practice is how comfortable each student seems after they start introducing themselves. They get really comfortable with each other and are able to open up a little more to each other as a class. This makes my job SO MUCH EAISER! No matter what course I would teach - this is a MUST HAVE on the first day!

THEN - I went to our Area Command office and was taught how to read, create and manage my club budget. I am SO thankful for this! I can finally say that The Salvation Army is moving forward and in great strides in this area. They are letting club directors take over the budget process; so instead of telling us "We are out of money...," I can see exactly what we have to spend where and why we have to cut what we have to cut...this is a GREAT thing! The one thing I do miss...state funding! haha! The only thing worse than that has to be Non-Profit! Who knows if we will get the money!!!

THEN - we had a local advisory council meeting for our location. Such an awesome time. Captain Boatman gave a review of the time he and his wife have been there. If you are in the Salvation Army reading this - these are a great set of officers. Sometimes you really don't realize it until it's time for them to ship out, but these are two good ones!

After this it was just a crazy day at work. I can't believe how busy it is in January. I guess it just never stops! haha

Tonight I was honored with starting the process as a Mason - what an honor. My grandfather served as a Mason in various aspects in Chicago, so this has always been in my heart to take part in - it was awesome!

Oh and at this point, I've lost 7 pounds since last Wednesday!!!!

Wow, a big day. I need some rest!!!!

Life's been good to me, so far...

Well, I'm now on day four of the special diet that I've been tracking. Since I haven't really described the diet at all, I want to give a small detail of what it is all about...

500 calories per day
Two small meals
One fruit in the morning
No exercise (only eating 500 calories, there isn't much to burn!)

So far, all is well. I am predicting day four or five to be a little harder. I'm wondering if a cheat meal would be appropriate. Just one big plate of Cajan Chicken Pasta and garlic bread from Chili's...umm...okay, I've got to stop talking about the food! ha!

I spoke with Jessica Schwab today at work and she asked if I knew anyone who would like to come speak at UCO students about involving alumni in fraternities/sororities. Of course, I said I would take it on! When I was talking to her, I realized that I should really start taking speaking opportunities...afterall, my Master's degree is in TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT!

Tonight I am going to start preparing for next week - when class starts! I'm really excited to be starting my second semester at TCC and had my orientation last night. Tonight was suppose to be something else, but...I kind of lost track of time! The second time around seems like it will be a little more organized than the first. More media usage, an actual schedule to go off of and an example of WHAT NOT TO DO that I got from experience last semester. Speech is an awesome class to teach though and I'm excited about the spring semester!

I am also excited that You, Me and Dupree is on right now...hilarious and Kate Hudson is of course, HOTT!

I'm kind of scared about the weekend - I will want a beer and a large pizza...HA!

Wating on the World to Change

Well, I finished my resolutions last night. There are PLENTY of things that are going to need to change to make possible. I've divided them into Spiritual, Intellectual, Physical, House Domestic and Personal. I will just mention that I have a few projects I would like to work on this year; Painting the kitchen, turn half of the garage into a bedroom, actually put up decorations in my house (right now there are PLAIN walls - ha!), replace my water heater (with the help of my roommate Allison Walker), paint my hallway, buy new furniture for the living room and put drapes on all of the windows. These are going to be some fun, yet exhausting projects that I'm really looking forward to this year!

I've got to take this GRE and start reading more often. When I finished my Masters, I actually started reading quite a bit. It was really easy because I was already in the reading mode, I just transfered that to stuff I wanted to read! Need to get that going. I'm going to start reading fiction and try to read the biographies of Barak Obama, JFK, Walt Disney and Charles Page.

Eating...less...crap...! I'm starting a diet this week that Allison suggested that will help me lose a little bit in a month to get me started, so I'm excited about it. I am really getting back into swimming more, which is awesome! It also helps me with endurance too, which I need!

I've got to see a doctor and dentist this year on a regular basis! I'm paying for insurance - NEED TO USE IT!

Spirituality is going to become a bigger part of my life in 2010, too. I am going to get into another small group study again and start attending, hopefully with those people. I'm making goals to get in the Word a little more often than now and tithing goals...this is something that should have happened when I got a full time job!

I'm going to be planning two big event this year, too! I am planning our Youth of the Year banquet for the Tulsa area clubs and an event that Kiwanis is starting this year called Sandfest. I'm really pumped about these opportunities!

On a side note, I'm really excited that I have AIM and Pandora on my computer at work. I get to listen to music and say hey once and a while to my UCO friends...this really makes the day even better in the middle of craziness!

Tomorrow - TCC Convocation and Communications Division Orientation on Wednesday! Management Meeting and Youth of the Year planning begins!

As I start the new year, I'm pretty pumped about everything to get accomplished!

So, the new year...

Well, I've ALWAYS said that New Year's Eve was my least favorite holiday of the year - if you really call it a holiday. Every year, something is planned and it fails, I can't decide on a plan or something drastic happens to make me not even want to do anything. I don't really know why I don't like it, but I never have.

The last three years though, I can't believe how much fun I've had! Two years ago, I had a party at my house, last year, I went to Dirty's in Tulsa with some friends then THIS YEAR I went to Allison Davis' house to a party - REALLY fun! It was great to see everybody and as usual, it makes me thankful for all of my friends. Although, it always makes me really happy to live here and not there...I think I would get nothing finished or anything completed - ha! I love catching up with everyone!

Last night, Allison, Kelsey, Bryan, Joe, Griffin and Adie went out with Audrey Seymore to celebrate her going to Peru. I had a blast and am not excited about her leaving, but so pumped about her getting to do something she loves.

As I'm getting ready for bed, I'm also making some year long commitments, also know as the resolutions - haha. I've taken advice from Cassie Cole, a friend through Nathan Box. I am making four areas of goals and objectives for my life. Spiritual, Intellectual, Physical and Domestic (I'm turning this into Home Domestic for things I want to do around the house). I am excited to start over and get 2010 off to an awesome start!

This week is going to be crazy. Going to the StuMo Conference, two nights of TCC orientation and a lot to do at work! Usually I go from absolutely nothing to completely everything! I will also start a new 20 day or so diet this week recommended by Allison Walker - I should loose about a pound a day, yes I've let my weight get a little too much control over me, so this should be interesting. Pictures to come soon.

Now, back to my list...
