Today was pretty busy. Like most days, I knew I had a lot a head of me, but didn't realize how much I was getting myself into...
I started the day going to class for the first time this semester. So, I have 22 students in my class - 3 of which are male. CRAZY! It was an awesome day of class though. We got to go over a lot of cool stuff on the first day, but of course, I just started the first day off any other way I would - with introductions. What amazes me about this practice is how comfortable each student seems after they start introducing themselves. They get really comfortable with each other and are able to open up a little more to each other as a class. This makes my job SO MUCH EAISER! No matter what course I would teach - this is a MUST HAVE on the first day!
THEN - I went to our Area Command office and was taught how to read, create and manage my club budget. I am SO thankful for this! I can finally say that The Salvation Army is moving forward and in great strides in this area. They are letting club directors take over the budget process; so instead of telling us "We are out of money...," I can see exactly what we have to spend where and why we have to cut what we have to cut...this is a GREAT thing! The one thing I do miss...state funding! haha! The only thing worse than that has to be Non-Profit! Who knows if we will get the money!!!
THEN - we had a local advisory council meeting for our location. Such an awesome time. Captain Boatman gave a review of the time he and his wife have been there. If you are in the Salvation Army reading this - these are a great set of officers. Sometimes you really don't realize it until it's time for them to ship out, but these are two good ones!
After this it was just a crazy day at work. I can't believe how busy it is in January. I guess it just never stops! haha
Tonight I was honored with starting the process as a Mason - what an honor. My grandfather served as a Mason in various aspects in Chicago, so this has always been in my heart to take part in - it was awesome!
Oh and at this point, I've lost 7 pounds since last Wednesday!!!!
Wow, a big day. I need some rest!!!!
