Well, last week I experienced THREE banquets in 5 days. First, the post before about the outcome of the bucks we made during our fundraiser. There are two other banquets that I planned and emceed for the evening as well. Although they were a little more low key and still of course, fun, it was still A LOT to do in that amount of time!
I am always so excited to celebrate our coaches and their effort to volunteer and be involved. We have a great group of coaches and we are lucky to show them a great night at the end of the season. We honored our coach of the year for each age division and were able to enjoy some great food. This year, I added something new to the mix. Last year, we were criticized for not having childcare and I totally agreed. We are talking about 100 sets of parents...why wouldn't we have childcare?? So this year, we provided it and actually let them go swimming while their parents enjoyed the banquet.
The next banquet was a Youth and Volunteer of the Year Banquet. At this banquet, we honor six pre/teenagers and six volunteers from the Tulsa area clubs. It was really exciting to watch this night unfold because I believe this is what our clubs are truly about...the growth and development of our kids. We honored one of our kids and one volunteer - both amazing people and our youth is going to have a lot of things going for her in the future. Very exciting!
Last Friday, I had a dream that I couldn't fall asleep during my surgery...now, I know that it's not going to happen, but dang...of course, now it's in the back of my mind! I find myself getting a little nervous about the whole situation; how I will feel at this time next week, won't be able to drive, do anything physical for about 6-8 weeks, going back to work, scars, etc. Although I know I'm making an awesome decision, I still have those doubts - HA!
I will be posting next week about my afterward experience. Hopefully in good thoughts!!
